Expom SA is sending another crane to Scandinavia

Expom SA, seated near Olsztyn, does not rest on its laurels and it successively fulfils orders from various corners of the world. The latest challenge that the engineers from Kurzętnik have had to face is the production of an articulated offshore crane Knuckleboom with the lifting capacity of 10 tons at the order of a customer from Denmark.

A 16-ton crane Knuckleboom has an arm with the length of 13 meters and characteristic two-part structure. Owing to this, it has bigger manoeuvre possibilities and it may significantly improve the transport of cargo. The crane is equipped with electric, electronic and hydraulic systems, which ensures reliability of operation even in extreme conditions.

The equipment was subject to specialist dynamic and static tests as per the acceptance procedure and under the supervision of the Shipping Classification Association (DNV). Upon obtaining appropriate certificates, the crane will be delivered to the client with complete qualitative and acceptance documentation. In the future it will be mainly used for reloading of materials on ships and drilling rigs worldwide.

Expom specializes in the production of large-dimension steel structures and one of the flagship products of the company is davits and marine cranes equipped with hydraulic power systems and electrical systems. The company fulfils orders, the final recipients of which are clients from Singapore, Australia, China, the Netherlands and Scandinavian countries.

NEW INVESTMENT IN EXPOM - Overhead Travelling Crane 20t

Yet another investment in Expom - purchase of a 20t overhead travelling crane - has been just completed. The device has been mounted in the H2 Hall in the machine tools sector. The device is used for internal transport to handle workpieces onto the machine tools. It still needs to be commissioned and the technical acceptance procedure is to be performed by the Technical Surveillance Institute and controllers from the crane manufacturer.

It is the largest close handling device ever mounted in the 62 years of the company's history. It gives us much greater capabilities for the customer service, increases the transport capacity in the hall of large machine tools to the max lifting capacity of 30 tonnes – adds Mr Rafał Domżalski, CEO.

This is another step initiated in the previous year to modernize the company and at the same time complement the investment with heavy precision machining of elements weighing several dozens of tonnes. The investment in the overhead travelling crane has been fully paid from the company's own funds.

Another stage covering installation of a 20t overhead travelling crane in the painting hall is planned for October 2014.

EXPOM has been the carer of John Paul II Primary School No. 1 in Nowe Miasto Lubawskie for a few years and it supports the school in the achievement of its education purposes. Some pupils attending the school will become the apprentices or employees of the company in the future, therefore - in accordance with the proverb "as the twig is bent, the tree's inclined" and care for the safety of pupils - within the framework of cooperation, a number of actions promoting safety have been taken up recently and are also planned for the next academic year. The OHS senior specialist at EXPOM - Krzysztof Wrzosek is the initiator of the cycle of tasks and for a few years he has been promoting the popularization of the culture of safety among children and teenagers living in Nowe Miasto district.

Within the framework of the academic year ended, the school was given a series of posters relating to the safety of pupils, which were published by the Central Labour Protection Institute - State Research Institute and they refer to such issues as: "school", "computer", "safe start", "carry less". One poster was entitled: "What you don’t learn as a child, you can’t learn as an adult.  Learn imagination". The posters were handed in at the assembly, during which the 4th grade students received bicycle cards. The pupils were also given the high visibility vests so that they can be seen during walks and bike trips with teachers. The school headmaster also received educational films published by the State Labour Inspection and Social Insurance Institution concerning safety of children in the countryside. Cartoons for the youngest - "Rodzina Porażków" and for a bit older children - "Safety of children in the countryside" will make it easier for teachers to present to children hazards at works at the farm.

School pupils were also invited to participate in a painting competition "Safe workplace" organized by the District Labour Inspectorate in Olszytn and Polish Association of OHS Services Employees in Olsztyn, the member of which K. Wrzosek is.

A number of further actions aimed at promoting safe behaviours among pupils are planned for the academic year 2014/2015.
